The John Muir Way

Dunbar harbour

Dunbar harbour by Lesley Clarke

Dirleton is on the John Muir Way which now stretches 215km from Helensburgh in the west
to Dunbar, John Muir's birthplace, in the east.

The website: www.johnmuirway.org has full details of the Prestonpans to North Berwick section which goes through Dirleton. The website has downloadable maps, with full details of points of interest, accomodation and facilities.

There is dark green signage all along the route. Printed copies of leaflets about the John Muir Way can be picked up in tourist offices, libraries, hotels etc.
The section of the John Muir Way nearest to Dirleton comes off the A198 between Gullane and North Berwick and goes through the Archerfield Estate emerging beside Dirleton village green. It then goes down past the Kirk to the parking area for Yellowcraig Beach, through the woods, across a field and onto a minor road of large houses into North Berwick.
